Books are like Air ...

Without books, life would be sooo... boring. Don't you think?

I'm a moody reader. I know what I like and love to share what I think about what I read.

It really is just that simple.

The Perfect Play (Play-by-Play Series #1)

The Perfect Play - Jaci Burton I can't say Jaci Burton is one of my favorite authors, but I did like this book. I give it 3.5 stars. I wouldn't say I'm an erotica fan. I'm a fan of a good story, and if the story has a scorching hot relationship, I can deal, but it better be well written a believable. Sometimes I wonder if the author has experience any of what she is writing about. Because, if she had, it would be better written. Also, some writers follow the "newspaper" mentality -- write like a third grader is going to read this. I really prefer a more intelligent read like a Julie James, Erin McCarthy, Jill Shalvis, etc. If I don't like one of those, it isn't because the writing lacks intelligence. You catch a bit of this issue in this story. Much more in the previous book I've read by her, so maybe she is trying to be better... As mentioned above, I tried reading one by JB before and really didn't like it. Her dialogue wasn't very intelligent. The story didn't make sense. I caught glimpses of that same thing in this book, but liked the heroine much better in this one. I liked her backstory and her interactions with her teenage son. Very believable. I think she throws sex in the story just because and the dialogue during doesn't fit the characters she has defined, but I liked the later parts with football intertwined. I would have liked a bit more of this. I love sports in a story. I'm a sports lover. Overall, I enjoyed it. But not going out to spend $10 on the next one. I'll wait until it comes down in price or I can get from the library. This was an Oct reading challenge book for me -- Hot Cover. So, go figure.
